Michael Martensen, born Michael Kratz in Munich, is an outstanding artist whose artistic journey has been shaped by his family's deep artistic roots. His grandfather, the renowned architect Walter Kratz, and his uncle, the respected German artist Benno Hauber, played a crucial role in Martensen's artistic development.
From an early age, Martensen was inspired to paint by his uncle Hauber, who not only awakened his passion for art but also encouraged his creative abilities. This formative relationship laid the foundation for Martensen's artistic career.
Determined to follow his passion, Martensen decided to study painting. He chose renowned teachers such as Prof. Hanes Beier and Prof. Dr. Markus Lüpertz to deepen his technical skills and develop his own unique style. During his studies he broadened his horizons and perfected his artistic techniques.
Martensen began his professional career in television as a designer and contributed significantly to the development of virtual studios, which may show a connection to his grandfather's architectural influences. However, after 20 years in the TV business he returned to his artistic roots and devoted himself to painting again.
His works have been presented in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including in prestigious galleries in Verona, Katowice, Innsbruck and Munich. Martensen's work has won multiple awards and is found in private collections around the world.
