Discover the contemporary work of Michel Forest
Michel Forest is a self-taught, inventive and innovative artist, constantly in search of creation. Since his childhood, when he was in elementary school, he loved to draw. After reading lessons, one of his teachers asked the students to copy the illustration of the book studied on a drawing book. This allowed him to learn to read while developing his artistic skills as a disciplined and attentive student.
In 1982, he met Mr. Clopeau, a master violin maker of Polish origin, and became his student. He learned to carve wood, and his drawing skills allowed him to learn quickly.
In 1989, Michel met Alphonse Martinez, a painter based in Istres. The latter created oil paintings. Michel developed a friendship with this impressionist painter, who did not hesitate to put brushes and tubes of oil paint in his hands. This is how he discovered oil painting, followed by acrylic and watercolor. He continued his research to master the materials and even tried his hand at underwater painting while wearing diving equipment, after discovering the works of André LABAN, a diver on Commander Cousteau's Calypso.
At that time, he joined an association and met Alain Trovato, a painter who has since passed away, with whom he presented his first exhibitions and participated in his first competitions. Michel produced a wide variety of works, ranging from oil painting to acrylic and watercolor, through charcoal, dry or oil pastel, as well as red chalk. If he started in an impressionist style, he now favors abstract and figurative art through his seabeds, which he particularly likes. He also devotes his time to sculpture, according to his desires and inspirations.
