Career

Nadine Dartis, born October 29, 1977 in Noisy-le-Sec in the Paris region, is an emerging contemporary Franco-Congolese figurative artist. Coming from a dynasty of goldsmiths in the South of France through her mother, she is self-taught. Her passion for drawing was born in childhood.

Although she did not follow an academic artistic training, her overflowing creativity allowed her to develop artistic skills on her own. After a literary baccalaureate and law studies, her atypical career is punctuated by varied professional adventures. She worked in the nightlife world, then as a childminder and later as a real estate agent. Today she has decided to do what she has always loved, making a living from her art.

Artistic approach 

A committed artist with a particular interest in children's rights, she uses visual narration in her paintings and illustrations to raise awareness about societal causes.

Her works also address themes such as consumerism and its excesses.

Her influences gravitate around pop art,. that of Andy Warhol who inspired her to explore the themes of consumption, identity, accessible art, the relationship between artistic expression, culture and celebrity in her own creations. but also that of the photographer David Lachapelle for his surrealist images.

Nadine Dartis has also integrated street art codes with the diversity of her materials, the introduction of graffiti in her creations. The approach Banksy's subversive and social commentary inspired her to incorporate political and social messages into her art.

She fuses mediums and materials such as watercolor, acrylic, collage, and photography.

The colors are bold, vivid, saturated, or high-contrast; the tone is offbeat and ironic, even parodic.

The artist tells stories either by staging social issues that challenge her, either by creating allegorical portraits of people with their universe as she perceives them with a wink to mass society.
