Discover the contemporary work of NANOUQ
Hello,
My name is Prisca and I am the creator of Nanouq.
It took me a long time to get to this point. the culmination of this mysterious character and his story. I have a professional background rich in experience in very different worlds. I have to tell you, I didn't immediately devote myself to drawing and writing. creation. I don't want to tell you everything, obviously because it would be too long and boring, but in a few words I am one of the people who have several lives in their life! (laughing)
The Nanouq adventure began a few years ago after a professional retraining in the fashion profession. I then trained as a stylist-model maker in Paris. And my character, although not yet very affirmed, in her graphic style, stood out on the pages of school books wearing dresses, accessories and costumes, each more crazy than the last. He accompanied me during my studies and that was just the beginning!
I carried out a few internships and in particular an eight-month one which gave me a real creative boost, in a wonderful textile weaving company in a rich Parisian suburb. And then I had the opportunity to and the chance to create fabric samples for a major Maison and weave Haute - Couture fabrics.
With my diploma in hand, it was time to find a job in the field and let's face it, it wasn't easy. I had a lot of refusals, very few responses too! With financial complications looming, I needed to find a quick solution and so I moved!
Back to At home in the south of France and more precisely in Montpellier, I began a phase of my professional life combining a passion for work as a stylist-modeler on a freelance contract and food jobs. I worked a year in a craft store and supplies for art painters, and I was ready to move on. dedicate myself entirely to this new job that I liked.
But as luck would have it, this company had also been experiencing money problems for several years and closed its doors very quickly. For the fourth time I had to start again. zero. I then decided to à at this moment, to take some time for myself and to train myself again. This famous period of freedom, which was finally offered to me, allowed me to choose to improve my English, which in the fashion world is an essential asset for finding a job. ! I wanted to believe that I could have a career as a fashion designer. So I left for three months of intensive training at the University of Paris. thirty hours per week with professors from the four corners of the world. I didn't find it the job you are looking for. But I needed even more to leave me sinking. in defeat. The summer season is approaching big step and not having found anything à that moment there a food job, I started to work; create fabrics. I worked on the material, the colors and the knots with combinations of pigments previously mixed by me. It was a break in my life which brought me enormously, a therapy which, after all these life changes, arrived at the right time. It was short, a few months, where of course I traveled the summer markets accompanied by my loved ones to sell beautiful fabrics.
The time had come when I resumed the rhythm of odd jobs to support myself; my vital needs, while continuing to draw, sew, procrastinate on my artistic projects, get lost in unknown territories...try to undertake, document, draw then draw, Again. I had other experiences in my field of training but nothing that filled me with happiness or made me want to invest fully.
With all this journey, these professional experiences in very diverse fields, I have realized that I was good at one thing, that of drawing, and that I really wanted to do something else. It wasn't the styling or the fashion that appealed to me! Oh no ! Far from there ! It was creation through drawing!
During all these years, I had worked in the field. my character without really realizing it. He had evolved with me!
Nanouq was at my side at my side every moment, I couldn't do without it, I couldn't do without eating it! It allowed me to escape and overcome difficulties.
I've had a character for years and now I'm going to tell you his story.
Nanouq is a young woman living in the tricky world of the terrarium among insects and giant plants.
Following; a crazy story that I will reveal to you soon, she finds herself locked in a tiny and fantastic universe. An adventurer full of imagination then reveals herself to build her new world under this glass bubble.
You will be able to follow his adventures in the form of a comic strip and discover unusual objects, accessories, elements that you will find in the comic strip that I am offering you for sale.
I am currently working on a graphic novel which should be released at the end of 2024! I can't wait to share my world with you!
