Lewan is a painter who lives in the Paris region.
She has always had an appetite for drawing, but it was at the age of 15, during a school trip to Florence that painting entered her life. At 18, she joined the Faculty of Law, but painting remained in her head.
After the office, she frequented Parisian workshops to perfect her drawing and painting technique. It was in 2022 that the artist decided to devote herself to painting and began studying at an art school, the MILAN ART INSTITUTE, where she graduated from the "Mastery program".
The artist devotes herself full time to her activity as a painter in her personal studio. There she creates expressive works, sometimes gentle, sometimes striking, but always engaging the viewer in a silent dialogue. With a striking style, mixing expressiveness and gentleness, Lewan's art is above all an intense and silent exchange between the artist, her work and her audience. Working mainly in oil, on portraits or still lifes, she likes to concentrate on her main subject, in close-up, and leave her backgrounds abstract. This atmosphere, more instinctive and unstructured, sublimates her model treated in a more figurative way. It is also this tight framework that captures her emotions, as much as our gaze. The colors, too, are deep and participate in the story. Among her inspirations, we find in particular Caravaggio and Chardin for their dramaturgy, Basquiat and Schiele for their sharp lines or Monet and Klimt for their lyricism.
Dreamy and optimistic, Lewan invites us with her painting to an intimate dialogue, as much with her canvases as with ourselves.
She is present on the national and international stages because she has had the chance to participate in several exhibitions in France but also abroad. His works, meanwhile, join private collections in particular in France, Italy and the Netherlands, Spain and the USA.
The artist plans to embark on a series of figures with imposing dimensions in the short term. The large-format work contributes to provoking this visual impact, this emotional upheaval dear to the artist.
“What I want is to create a space for dialogue between the work and the viewer, which will in turn provoke a kind of introspective meditation”.
