Discover the contemporary work of Nell
Painter — Art Therapist
With Nell, materials and shades are captured like bursts of laughter, tenderness, complicity … fully and in the energy of the moment.
Nell, (Nelly Eoche) was born on June 27, 1962 in Lorient. Originally from Locmiquelic, the « Minahoët » lives and works in Caudan, as a painter and art therapist.
It is a direct and instinctive link that connects Nell to her art. Without intermediary or premeditation. No academic training, feeling. A call that comes from within, faced with the intensity of an emotion. As if magnetized, Nell then grabs pigments and brushes, or even funny objects (like a pickle puller!) to express this unique vibration on the spot. Acrylics, inks or collages, the material comes to her intuitively. Guided by the authenticity of the moment, the artist plays with processes to get ever closer to her identity as an artist. Alive. Each of her works participates in this inner search. Nell likes the impressionism, abstract expressionism and surrealism of the painters Chagall, Klimt, Klee, Van Gogh, Picasso, Modigliani, Gaudi, Fernand Léger, Francis Picabia. Some contemporary artists inspire her in her relationship with painting and techniques. Nell does not like to name her works, for fear of confining them. She prefers them open to: all receptivities. A tender complicity is born with the public, in the eyes of his characters, little painted fish, intuitive portraits of women.
« What a pleasure ! What emotions!
There’s a little bit of me that goes away with each painting that takes up residence in your heart. »
Self-taught, Nell has always had a close connection to art. As a little girl, she sketched in her school notebooks. On the sly, she took part in drawing competitions... It is in her, this call towards the sensory world of visual arts, music, sport. When her cousin goes to the Beaux-Arts, Nell dreams, but reluctantly takes another path. "It's not a job", she hears. However, she never stops painting, on the walls of her children's bedroom, for her friends, her family. Nell makes the colors dance. A nod to her achromatic daughter who does not perceive them. Her personal and professional life takes a few detours, on the paths of tourism. In 2006, Nell reconnects with her creativity which will never leave her. She met a pastel artist who helped her prepare for entry to the Higher School of Interior Architecture in 2010. A few projects emerged, then in 2015, it was the big take-off: Nell left tourism. Officially certified as an art therapist, the artist became involved in artistic and sensory mediation. It was time to bring her paintings out into the light: a first exhibition in 2017, at the bar Les 7 îles, in Baden. There, a German designer bought her first painting. In 2018, Minahouët returned to her roots and exhibited in Locmiquelic, during the Rad’Art. That same year, she offered her collages at the Riantec watercolor fair. In 2019 and 2020, she exhibited and worked as an art therapist at La Boîte à Aider in Larmor-Plage. A small patch of humanity in which Nell fully finds herself. The artist is also asked to do illustrations. Art is a surge towards others, for Nell, convinced that it can help people in their differences, and reconnect us to our strongest emotions. Bring us together in the present moment, because we are similar, inside

" My artistic approach is internal and in the search for a unique vibration. I don't necessarily have a precise idea of what I'm going to produce. I experiment with different techniques depending on how I feel. My work is very different from one production to another or from one series to another. The authenticity of the present moment is very important to me. My goal is to share with the public my creations whose visual goal is to invite them to feel new emotions in relation to their perception of the moment. "
