Nia_l lives and works today in the Var.

A native of Angers, she trained in the Fine Arts of her city before continuing her training in History of Arts in Paris. the faculty from Montpellier where she completes a Master’s degree. In 2003, supported and encouraged by Vaco Baissac and Héléne de Séneville, Nia_l prepared her first personal exhibition at Paris. Mauritius, where she then lives.

She will no longer stop devoting herself to; her profession as a visual artist, exploring the musicality of of the color and richness of the material to be used. the search for luminous and delicious creations.

Red, yellow and green, orange and turquoise, gold and copper, are undoubtedly his favorite colors. Those that she always works with so much passion, and which accompany her and lead her to the next level. not, in a head to head silent head towards new studies. Studies that Nia_l wants like intervals, vibrations. Breaths. Quiet dialogues. She lets herself be guided towards non-figurative and nonetheless constructed compositions, combinations of atmospheres and movements and offers us intense and invigorating work, with pure and fiery colors, with rich materials.

A work that is part of an intuitive and yet mastered gesture.

 

 

"I work on musicality. color, its tones and its chords, as I work on the richness of the material.

I love the strength of color, its blazes and its shadowy areas. I love its intensities, its depths, its light

And then I like the textures, structures and random combinations of raw materials.

I like their irregularities and their particularities. All their stigmata, their traces and their scars, their rough edges and their anomalies. 

All these little eccentricities and these scratches, these ruptures, which implicitly tell a parallel story and give an additional dimension.

I want to exploit the chances and accidents of color and material to enhance their richness and preciousness.

And then I like the idea of a painting that you would want to discover with your fingertips.

So, on the canvas, the gesture is physical and instinctive. I pick, I brush, I wash, I rub and I scrape. I tear off, I trace, I erase, I sculpt.

I am at the search for a characterized language by all these marks and traces.

By the contrasts in the relationships of tones and materials and the breaks in shapes.

Through sobriety; of a solid color opposite to à the richness of a texture or the transparency of a wash.

Generally the pattern doesn't matter to me. Here, however, for the research that I am developing at the moment, he imposed himself. in the idea of stone.

The stone, memory of our land and our history, which never ceases to bear witness to the origins. Of our origins…

The stone, silent witness to timeless and immortal memory.

Stone is everywhere.

Precious stone or grain of sand, monumental dolmen or small smooth and round lucky pebble nestled in a stone. in the palm of your hand,

Sparkling and princely diamond or dark lava stone,

Translucent quartz and blue granite,

Moonstone, life and birthstone,

Gem or rock,

Nothing stone or black veined Tunisian marble of copper.

Gray pebble from the beaches of Rhodes or pink from the sands of the great deserts,

Ornamental and sumptuous stone or eternal construction as a keystone.

Striped onyx black and white or red jasper in cabochon,

Pumice stone if light, cut stone or embedded stone,

Carved stone or polished stone, cut and engraved,

Giant monolith stone or small cameo on carnelian.

White chalk or black charcoal, stumbling block or cornerstone,

Stone is everywhere.

It is said to be inert. Frozen. Cold and lifeless.
