Discover the contemporary work of Olympe Persée
Originally from Réunion and self-taught, I evolved in a professional way. in the field of performing arts as a cultural mediator. Inspired by the visual arts, I immerse myself in rituals, Creole culture and culture. and imagination. À through a variety of of eclectic materials - paint, fabric, wax, paper, plants, clay, cement etc. - I express works that stimulate the imagination and delight the senses, merging ancestral and contemporary influences.
My creations are flashes of light in a world too often immersed in in the dark banality. They are a reflection of my own struggle to remain authentic, to not blend into this uniform mass where everything looks the same.
But make no mistake, I don't claim to save the world with my brushes or my words. I am self-taught, armed with my imagination (and a certain independence) and a good dose of humor. Because after all, what could be better than laughing in the face of uniformity, ridiculing it with a pinch of irony and a good dose of sarcasm?
So yes, my work can be profound, but it is also tinted. of this lightness which allows you to cross the darkness without being swallowed up. It is an invitation to dance to the rhythm (of a good Maloya) or to your own melody, embrace one's difference and celebrate humanity in all its madness.
O.P
My artistic approach is like a rebellious dance in the middle of a gray tide of conformity. I refuse to comply with the narrow rules that try to standardize everything. No, I prefer to celebrate the singularity of life. of each soul, like so many wisps in the darkness.
