Discover the contemporary work of Oscar Green

A Beninese artist living in France for around twenty years, Oscar grew up in Benin before moving to France as a teenager.

He has been passionate about visual art since early childhood and has developed his skills as an autodidact. He has been drawing since he was 5 years old, his first strokes coming to life in his school notebooks.

He subsequently turned to graphic design after completing secondary school. Driven by a constant curiosity, Oscar expanded his practice to photography and video, thus enriching his artistic approach. Later, his encounter with Jacques Robak, a master engraver-printer, was decisive. He introduced him to linoleum engraving, refining his appreciation of the material and composition. His death, painful as it may have been for him, reinforced his commitment to this path, pushing him to perpetuate a skill he had passionately passed down.

Today, painting occupies a central place in his artistic practice. Indeed, since 2020, he has been attending the Oulan Bator workshop located in Orléans. There he met Onie Jackson and Guillaume Garrié, two distinguished painters.

This new environment encouraged him to diversify his visual media; this is how he moved from drawing to painting.

In 2022, he joined a multi-studio space in Ulaanbaatar where he exploits the potential of the diverse experiences that have punctuated his initiatory journey as a multifaceted artist.

Oscar is engraving, photography, painting; it is the very desire to leave his mark.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I consider art primarily as a form of therapy and a means of understanding human nature, which forms the core of my work. I am interested in the relationships that individuals have with their environment and with others. Through a variety of styles and techniques, I explore emotions and sensations, seeking to detect beauty in life's moments.
