Panagiotis Averbach

Panos Averbach is a greek painter, draftsman, and sculptor whose artistic journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to various artistic mediums and a broad exploration of contemporary art. Trained at the prestigious 'Grande Chaumière' in Paris, as well as at the 'Aterliers des Beaux-Arts de Paris' and in several other artistic workshops, Panos Averbach has cultivated a unique and diverse approach to creation.

With a particular sensitivity to contemporary art, he has immersed himself in a wide range of artistic expressions, including installations, sound art, video, poetry and cinema. This exploration allows for a fusion of various artistic languages, where traditional forms of painting coexist with new media, creating works that engage multiple senses and challenge the viewer’s perception.

In addition to a strong focus on modern artistic movements, he maintains a profound respect for the Renaissance period, drawing inspiration from the timeless mastery of painting that continues to influence their work today. This blend of past and present forms the foundation of his creative expression, offering a unique voice that bridges centuries of artistic history with contemporary innovation.

His work, whether through painting, drawing, or sculpture, is deeply personal, reflecting a constant dialogue between tradition and the avant-garde. Their dedication to both the technical aspects of fine art and the emotional resonance of their pieces has led to exhibitions and collaborations that highlight the depth and complexity of their creative process.

Artistic approach

As a painter, draftsman, and sculptor, my artistic practice is a continuous exploration of form, emotion, and the intersection of different artistic mediums. My work is shaped by a deep understanding of traditional techniques as well as a strong commitment to contemporary expressions.

My artistic journey is driven by a sensitivity to contemporary art, particularly installations, sound, image, and poetry in cinema. I am fascinated by the way these elements can intertwine to create immersive, multi-sensory experiences that challenge the viewer’s perception of reality. In my work, I aim to break the boundaries between different art forms, blending painting, sculpture, and installation to evoke a sense of poetry and narrative that is both visceral and intellectual.

While my practice is rooted in the present, I also draw deep inspiration from the classical tradition of Renaissance painting. The mastery of form, light, and composition from that period continues to influence my work, offering a timeless language through which I engage with contemporary themes. I find a unique dialogue between the past and the present in this interplay, where the beauty and discipline of classical art converge with the expressive freedom of modern installation and sculpture.

My pieces often exist at the intersection of painting and sculpture, creating poetic installations that invite the viewer to step into an intimate, reflective space. These works are not just visual; they are intended to be experienced, with each element carefully crafted to evoke emotion, contemplation, and connection. Through this fusion of mediums, I seek to offer an experience that is both thought-provoking and sensory, one that invites interaction and reflection on the themes of time, memory, and the ephemeral nature of human existence.

At the heart of my work is a desire to create environments where art is not just seen, but felt. My installations offer a space for reflection, for quiet contemplation, and for poetic connection between the viewer and the work itself. Each piece is an invitation to pause, to question, and to engage with the world through a new lens—where the boundaries of artistic practice blur, and the poetic and the visual become inseparable.
