I am Sylvaine MERLET, Artist/Painter aged 46. Always passionate about figurative painting, over time I have developed a real fascination for Looks: "the eyes are the Mirror of the soul", they communicate truths and do not cheat. This is why I wanted to MAKE MY PAINTINGS SPEAK by painting "paintings within the painting" and ensuring that these additions do not harm the view from afar, but on the contrary, they add a graphic effect. Thus, each Painting tells a Story and can "be read" in several ways: FROM AWAY, main subject (often a portrait) and CLOSE, a multitude of details and references fill the painting. WHAT I'M LOOKING FORIn a world that is going faster and faster, we live at 100 miles an hour, we no longer take the time to look, to marvel at simple things (nature, an emotion, a feeling...). I want to encourage people not only to SEE, but to LOOK: To seek to understand. Being an optimist by nature, I have often been confronted with disillusionment about human behavior in the face of our planet that he is destroying. Therefore, in order to counterbalance this feeling of helplessness, my paintings abound with COLORS and CONTRASTS in often warm tones.

What I seek above all is to share my Philosophy of life, to show the Beauty of the World and to awaken consciences on the fact that we must preserve and respect cultures, traditions, differences and landscapes: This is what makes the richness of Life on Earth. In a profusion of Colors, my paintings offer several possible visions: We first discover the main theme, then when we approach, we are immersed in multiple atmospheres related to this theme. Some paintings even offer a vision IN THE DARK (phosphorescent paint). Whether hypnotic or captivating, each painting is an INVITATION TO TRAVEL AND DREAM and is just waiting to reveal its secrets and tell its story.
