Discover the contemporary work of Peter Goodchild

30 years ago I successfully completed a degree in Fine Art, specialising in Installation and Sculpture, at the University of Derby in the UK, where I had the opportunity to learn alongside renowned artists such as Richard Long, Anthony Gormley and Andy Goldsworthy.
Personal circumstances soon led me to France, where, as the father of a large family, I struggled to practise my art with the necessary intention and focus. However, I never stopped thinking about art: I continued to draw, take notes and develop ideas.
I recently decided to start as a professional artist and I feel that I am finally where I should be.
In my artworks, I have a special interest in secondary details, I love to manipulate objects, shapes, colors, juxtapose materials and guide serendipity. I can't create without letting coincidence express itself. Sometimes this results in an idea that started as something visibly real becoming totally abstract, other times it is a totally random construction that develops a recognizable form or image.
