I started sculpting 16 years ago, modeling in the winter, sculpting in the summer. My grandfather sculpted wood, I spent a lot of time watching him, but for now I prefer stone. I am a special needs educator, I use creation in my professional life to help young people believe in their abilities, and it works for me too.

Work started in 2008 in Marie Bonnefond's workshop. We worked with clay, then we moved on to working with stone, steatite* in particular. Since then I have been working with steatite, with a work on the theme of the link as a backdrop. A theme that I find at every stage of my life. The link that unites, builds, separates, embraces, that is tender and consoles, soothes, supports, divides, questions... the theme is natural, inexhaustible and serves as a common thread for an intuitive sculpture, which I hope is universal. The stone guides me, its resonance and the music I listen to will define my size, the energy, the movements that will be integrated into it. I like the work of movement and roundness.
It takes me hours of work, between the size, the shaping (modeling work with files, dentist tools, Opinels, ...), the shapes become more precise, finishing with sandpaper (80, 120, 180, 240, 320, 400, and sometimes finishing with 600 wet sandpaper), the color and the surprises of the stone appear on this work. The stone is then polished with beeswax or shea butter
I consider my sculpture accomplished when it provokes an emotion, whether in appreciation or in repulsion, it is Life
*Steatite (from steato“fat” and ite “mineral, in reference to its oily, silky feel) is a very soft metamorphic rock, mainly composed of talc. This stone is also known as Soapstone. The stone is white, gray, green, yellow, pink. Its density is between 2.20 and 2.83.
It is known to help overcome excessive fears and anxieties. Soapstone has calming, positive, stabilizing and soothing properties for the person but also for their entire environment.
