Discover the contemporary work of Diane RAUSCHER-KENNEDY
Born in the UK with a British mother and an American father, adopted French nationality after marrying a French man, and very proud to be multinational ! Came to live in France when I was 17 to do medical school, and ten years afterwards, having got my degree as a pédopyschiatre, stopped my career to look after my own children.Thirty years after I fell very ill with a complicated genetical orphan bone disease which destroys all bone structure, but in my case particularly my hands. So in order to keep them moving, and because my youngest son defied me to do him a “great big abstract painting” for his new house I started to paint – and the very first time I touched paint and canvas I felt at home. I felt that I had come home even, and that was where I belonged.Right from the start, and to my surprise, what I painted pleased all the folks around me, and I started exposing here and there. I have now also created an association to help medical research with the help of other artists, PROMO’ARTS. I help the artists and they help me help others....When I paint I feel so free, so healthy, so happy. I can only paint on big canvases, and paint flat with my work on an enormous table. I mostly paint in red, black and white – and when I do other colours, folks who are faithful collectors of my paintings are disappointed! They want red...red...perhaps black but then red again!I have now done more than 200 paintings, and if I am not painting, I feel as though I lack fresh air!I don’t know if I have any form of talent, but I know I love what do, and apparently others like it too. Being on the ARTactif site is going to give me a chance to contact and be contacted by others, and as I cannot now get round and about as much as I would like to, I hope to reach new fields thru the site.
