Self-taught, I entered the field in the world of painting in 2016 after several decades of desire. I chose Ray, my second name to sign my non-traditional paintings. to hide but to remain discreet.
Gaspard David Friedrich, a 19th century German expressionist, opened the way to inspiration for me, especially thanks to his work. his painting "The traveler contemplating a sea of clouds" .That's how I started à appreciate the work of light first of all. acrylic then to oil.
Another artist, Michael Parkes, best known for his realistic and magical works, was a new source of influence and trigger of a style that I then developed. . It’s in 2018, when I realized a commission for paintings on the theme of books and reading in which fantastic characters and other representations appeared: the start was given to for Raymaginaire!
2019 was a turning point in my creation: I then immersed myself in landscapes that surrounded me: the sea and the skies which vary, evolve, transform as I wish. hours, days and seasons.
Look at the sky, mix colors, try again and again...
Painting Oil quickly became my favorite technique: it allows me to make the colors of the canvases evolve as I wish. of my imagination.
The changing skies and the sea near which I live inspire my palette; I add the numerous birds of the coast. I think I am an observer or even a contemplative...this is how I advance in my pictorial research, in the work of the material, of color to convey as closely as possible in my paintings not what I see but what I glimpse, what I feel. To create more effects and give depth I now use the glaze. .
At will From my pictorial adventures, I also use mixed techniques such as pen, for decidedly more contemporary canvases. A few characters sometimes appear and tell their story.
Beyond of the title, I like to accompany each of my paintings with one or more significant sentences to highlight my creation and propose the story as I have it " "written" gradually measure of the progress of my creation.
