The medium of collage allows me to bring very different worlds of images into a new context. It is the game with it that excites me. Finding without searching. This creates bizarre worlds in which things are combined that don't actually belong together. My view of the world, as if shaken up by a kaleidoscope.
One of my main motifs for the past 4 years has been the theme of paradise.
In these pictures, reality is blurred; it is a utopia and the dream of a perfect world in itself, in which it is not important whether the plants come from the same region, the same climate zone, whether the proportions of the animals, which are also freely combined, correspond to the size of the plants. Is it any wonder that fish swim through the landscape? Or the leopard stretching on the daisy?
For me, the pictures are a composition of color, space and sound.
During the process, I added further elements: planets and gold leaf suns.
With the series "When the Comets Come" the scenery is broken up, people and architecture are added. The world as we know it appears in paradise. But this world dissolves, the houses are just skeletons and the people who move around in the scenery float in between, while small and large comets fly through the air.
My series of cutouts is a completely new approach. The collages no longer consist of individual elements, but of 2 image levels:
I cut out parts from historical landscape and city images.
The cuts initially follow the architecture, then become independent and form completely new structures in the landscape and the buildings.
The 2nd level is made of neon colored paper.
By creating a gap between the levels, I create a space, the shadow of the remaining forms falls on the rear level, like an additional drawing.
