Teaching literature and art history for more than 20 years at Dijon (21), Sandrine Engle took time to improve; dare to create his turn. However, as an only and solitary child, she has always interacted with dogs and... the trees of the forests of Burgundy. The link between humans and animals is at the heart of his approach in his Atelier du Chien bleu, now in the heart of Morvan in Paris. Arleuf (58). My artistic research never ceases to question the essential role of the domestic animal in the life of a human and the magical power of the unique bond that is woven between them.  ;
“As a self-taught person, I sold my first canine portraits almost by chance to a private seller. following the publication of the paintings of my own dogs on social networks. Committed to animal protection and abandonment rescues, this allowed me to help associations. Nevertheless beyond that commissioned portraits, creations on the theme of the Dog in its various dimensions (mythical, utilitarian...) were then born.
The visit to the Dali museum and the works of Magritte had a profound impact on me. my adolescence. Hopper then Polder, Toffoli and especially the Franco-Belgian painter Gaston Bogaert constantly inspire me. But the various ancient mythologies are never far away and the border between the wild world and the civilized world is never far away. fascinates me too.
Awakening daydreaming is precisely my main source of inspiration practiced alongside art. of my dogs or by observing my favorite animals: wolf, fox, lynx which populate my dreams. This is why my universe is more and more dreamlike. through my series of Ideal Cities where the dogs are served by small, caring humans (2023), my semi-abstract imaginary walks and my gardens of Eden (2024 series) where dogs enjoy the joy of living in spaces dedicated to their pets. elegance and style. a certain surrealism.
I would like that thanks to my paintings, everyone recognizes in the animal that accompanies them a guardian angel but also a life coach who teaches us full awareness of the moment.”
TECHNIQUES
“After starting out with a naïf style artist who works on gouache, I made my first animal portraits in dry pastel, but most of my paintings since 2017 have been in print. acrylic paint. I also like mixed techniques with sometimes collages of materials and reworking on pouring (random acrylic pouring). In 2024, my first paintings in painting with Oils mark my Eden collection while I continue to explore watercolors to achieve the finesse of the images I have in mind. Finally, I cannot continue to do so. dream without turning more towards abstraction in my next creations.
