Discover the contemporary work of Simone

Simone was born in 1986 in Charente-Maritime. After graduating with a Literary Baccalaureate with honors in Visual Arts and Art History, she continued her studies at the University of Poitiers and then at Paris XII. Passionate about the humanities and the functioning of the body and brain, she studied anatomy, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, as well as sociology, sustainable development, and management. These subjects inform her artistic work. She now lives and works in Rouen.

Humans, rites, customs, social displays, and unspoken codes are all starting points for her artistic research. Step by step, she searches, makes mistakes, continues, understands, evolves, and advances... She attempts to thwart social conventions with humor and poetry.

Her work is rooted in a constant observation of the world. Paradoxically, she seeks to escape it through drawing while attempting to grasp its meaning through her graphic work. She has always had a keen perception of details, a particular sensitivity to textures and repetitive patterns, to sounds and light. Her work is born from her relationship with the environment, from the attention paid to small things—those elements that are often invisible or ignored. Through art, she seeks to express these human relationships, these perceptions that shape our way of being and understanding the world.

Stripes are a central motif in her work. Their repetition becomes a way to inscribe a form of visual coding of impressions and sensations. They become an imprint of experience. Each line is an invitation to stop, to observe, to reflect on what lies beneath the surface.

Her current research on the skin as a surface of interaction is now moving towards an exploration of 3D and interactive works. For her, the skin is both a space of separation and connection, a place where all our sensory experiences play out. This project explores this bodily envelope, its textures, marks, and imprints.
