Stefan Hart de Keating (Stef H2K) started painting as a teenager in the 80s. In high school, he sold his paintings to earn pocket money.
His poet's soul was rekindled in 1991 and he put his pictorial flame on hold to devote himself to writing. These words that flowed from his pen encouraged him to launch the "Slam Poetry" movement in the Indian Ocean in 2002. He published several books, including three with the publisher L’Harmattan (France) in 2024.
His brushes tickled him between 2012 and 2014 and he returned to painting. Carried by his native island, Mauritius, he painted a dozen paintings that were sold in galleries without an official exhibition.
In 2024, after the release of his books at L’Harmattan, he picked up his brushes again and created a collection of around twenty works: “The Study”.
Acrylic on canvas and mixed media are the cornerstones of Keating's Stefan Hart style.
The artist can select his models from photographs for years before confirming his choice. He visualizes their transformation, imagines the colors and prepares the material to finally sketch the work precisely on the canvas.
When he gets down to it, the painting comes to life in a single breath. The artist carried away by creative passion devotes an entire night to it, if necessary, without respite until the final touch.
The result is full of character, emotion and a touch of sensuality.
