Discover the contemporary work of Steva
I was born in Brittany in 1963. My early vocation as a painter dates back to when I was 12 years old. I passed my entrance exam to the Brest School of Fine Arts in 1981 after a literary baccalaureate. But I had to give up my studies to earn my living and be independent. This failure gave me the implacable desire to fight again and again to impose my style. I am therefore part of the family of self-taught artists.
In 1988, I met Mrs. Marie de Holmsky who exhibits me in her gallery at 80 rue Bonaparte. I show her my very first oil paintings including "La Route". My pseudonym Steva will be the origin of our meeting. From there date my first exhibitions in the Paris region. I participate in the Salon des Indépendants in 1990 at the age of 27.
After a two-year stay in the Bordeaux region, I return to live in Brittany in 2009 at Morlaix.
In 2019 and 2020 I opened a studio-gallery for the summer season in the medieval town rue du Jerzual in Dinan. In 2023, I took over a new gallery space near the Saint-Malo church. In September 2022 in Belgium as part of a partnership with schools, canton of Luxembourg, Vaux/Sur/Sûre.
My work is the completely free expression of my imagination. I create kinds of colorful dreams. The main themes: home, nature, birds... I am also a jack of all trades and I happily accept to create works on order according to the wishes of my clients. It can also be a volume work in papier-mâché for example...

Two slogans sum up my work: Steva, imagination at the end of the brush and "The world is more beautiful in color!"
My painting, especially illustrative - whatever the chosen technique - is an ode to life: joy, hope, kindness. I like to highlight my love for nature. I invent imaginary worlds where everyone is happy.
