Discover the contemporary work of Tatjana Kühnal
Painting became my passion and I have been working on it ever since. In fifth grade, I learned the basics of art from my art teacher, who was very dedicated.
At the age of 17, I moved to Germany, attended language courses and began to find my way around the German system, which was far from easy, in a Catholic preschool. I also began to focus more intensively on drawings using pencil, graphite and charcoal techniques. Some time later I ventured into portrait drawing and spent a few years working with graphite and pencil drawings.
At the age of 22 I began training as a kindergarten teacher and during this time I met my husband.
We got married in 2005.
I decided to go to design school for a year and did an internship with an interior decorator. In the meantime, I became pregnant and in 2007 my first son was born, followed by my daughter in 2009 and my youngest son in 2011.
For a while I devoted myself exclusively to my family and was fulfilled in this role.
I never stopped developing artistically, just in a different way. I painted a lot with my children, did crafts and was creative. e.g. My children's birthday parties were permitted as workshops.
Over time, other parents became aware of me and I spontaneously began to offer courses for children.
When our nearby stationery store closed, I took it over and began to sell my artwork and give courses there in addition to stationery and art supplies.
At the same time, I continued to develop artistically. Thanks to numerous artists and acquaintances at exhibitions, art fairs and art markets, I gained a lot of experience that I applied in my artistic work.
In my artistic work, the focus is primarily on the depiction of natural landscapes and marine motifs, which I implement in various media such as acrylic, oil and watercolor. The diversity of nature and the different moods it can create always inspire me to create new works.
My works are characterized by an intensive engagement with light, color and texture, and I like to try out new techniques to capture the special atmosphere of a moment or place. This joy of experimentation enables me to constantly develop my artistic language and express different facets of nature in my pictures.
Another important concern of my work is the conscious use of materials and techniques. I try to work as environmentally consciously as possible, for example by paying attention to sustainable materials and using methods that reduce the ecological footprint of my art. This reflects my appreciation for nature, which is not only the main subject of my art, but should also be protected and preserved.
My portfolio combines these different approaches and shows my passion for nature, my joy of experimentation and my commitment to sustainable work in art.
