"Thierry Buisson ( Theb ), born June 19, 1959 in Lyon, is a self-taught painter whose practice spans more than two decades. Based in a modest studio north of Lyon, in the heart of the Rhone-Alpes region. Nourished by the dreamlike universe of Joan Miró and the formal freedom of Pablo Picasso, his work embodies a dialogue between revisited cubism and lyrical abstraction, where bursting shapes and vibrant colours compose a unique plastic language.

His instinctive and rhythmic practice is similar to a visual score: acrylic, applied with quick touches or in powerful flat tints, dialogues with chalk, whose lines sketch movements that are sometimes fluid, sometimes jerky. Each canvas becomes a dance between construction and deconstruction, guided by an inner pulsation where the gesture precedes reflection.

A self-taught artist, Thierry Buisson claims a creation freed from codes, where tactile experimentation and improvisation structure his compositions. The grainy textures of chalk, the contrasts of acrylic, and the play of superpositions reveal an art that is both raw and poetic, oscillating between cubist heritage and organic abstraction.

Recognized for his artistic commitment, he has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. In October 2024, his audacious career will be crowned by his entry into the Académie des Arts, Sciences et Lettres de Paris, the consecration of an approach that is as humble as it is demanding.

 ARTISTIC APPROACH

As a self-taught artist, my creative approach is deeply rooted in personal and instinctive exploration.

My main medium, acrylic painting, allows me to play with colors, textures and shapes, while avoiding the constraints of preparatory sketches.

Each work is an invitation to spontaneity, where I give free rein to my imagination. Inspired great masters such as Picasso, Zao Wou Ki and Miro, whose artistic universes resonate with my quest for expression.

Through abstract and non-figurative art, I seek to create compositions that do not dictate a single interpretation, but rather open up a space for the viewer to explore their own imagination.

My goal is to provoke emotions and initiate reflections, offering a visual experience that transcends words.

My creative process is rhythmic and instinctive, using a combination of acrylic, pastel chalk and plaster. Each brushstroke is a response to the present moment, a dance between color and form, unfolding on the canvas without a pre-established plan.

I firmly believe that art has the power to touch sensitive chords and generate conversations, and it is this interaction between the work and the viewer that I strive to cultivate. Through my creations, I hope to offer a mirror in which each person can recognize themselves and escape.
