Discover the contemporary work of Thomas Le Calvé

Born in Rennes (France), surrounded by colorful wallpapers (1974). As a child, from the age of 5, he took part in a plastic arts workshop led by a couple of venerable artists, following the "Martenot method". As a teenager, he did nothing. As a young adult, alongside my studies in architecture, I started painting again and exhibiting in Rennes bistros. After a 10-year break between 2012 and 2022, I picked up my brush again and decided to register with the Limousin URSSAF.. 

I leave this mystery to my biographers to sort out. I practice a kind of back and forth between the desire to succeed and the desire to fail. I don't like repetition, series bore me quickly. I produce little, only in an emergency when I have an exhibition in sight. Each work is therefore an adventure and a sort of character who lives with me. It is therefore rare that I agree to part with it at the prices charged in the bistros where I exhibit.
