A visual arts professor until 2021, I studied at the Fine Arts School of Tourcoing and at the Faculty of Visual Arts of Lille III from 1981 to 1986.

At the same time, I worked at the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis and at the LaM in Villeneuve d'Ascq as an animator and tour guide.

I created large-format paintings, some of which were exhibited as part of a group exhibition with the Union des Arts Plastiques (UAP) in the 1980s, the Printemps Culturel Valenciennes.

At the time, I was very influenced by Basquiat Pollock, Antoni Tàpies, and Joan Mitchell, as well as by copy art.

Later, experimental video art attracted me more, and I put this passion to good use by setting up video workshops at the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau and in schools and colleges where I taught visual arts.

Artistic approach

The drawings I'm currently creating are regularly published on Facebook and Instagram, and are exhibited virtually in Artboxy's partner galleries.

Artistic Approach

I created this pot-bellied, genderless, and ageless character with wild hair in 2022 in response to a challenge launched by an artist friend, Jozef Bonnot. This challenge motivated me to create one drawing a day for a year. It's Germaine Richier's sculpture, "Bullfighting." which greatly inspired me to invent this character, but also a black chalk drawing that I had done a few years earlier during a life model session and that I rediscovered.

I met the challenge, or almost, and created More than 300 drawings depicting this strange character in different postures and contexts.

I draw inspiration from photographs taken from contemporary dance performances, cinema, paintings, and sculptures by famous or unknown artists.

What interests me above all is the expression of the body, the posture, and the representation of the hands and feet. I like it when my character is grotesque, burlesque, but endearing. He very often expresses emotions.

I always add an object represented with varying degrees of realism to create a contrast with the character's much more gestural graphic style, sometimes close to writing.

I have created several series:

1- Musicians series in which a large number of musical instruments are represented.

2- Dance series

I have created several clay sculptures inspired by my character, whom I call "Lampito" Named after this combative and feminist woman from ancient Sparta who opposed the war by going on a sex strike.

I also created digital prints on white t-shirts for people interested in my character's style.
