Professor of visual arts until 2021, I studied at the Beaux-arts de Tourcoing and at the faculty of visual arts of Lille III from 1981 to 1986.
I also worked at the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-cambrésis and at the LaM in Villeneuve d'Ascq as an animator and tour guide.
I have produced large-format paintings, some of which have been exhibited as part of a collective exhibition with the Union des Arts Plastiques, UAP, in the 80s, the Printemps Culturel Valenciennois.
The drawings that I currently make are exhibited in turn in Artboxy's partner galleries and are regularly published on Facebook and Instagram.
I created this pot-bellied, asexual and ageless character with shaggy hair in 2022 in response to a challenge launched by an artist friend, Jozef Bonnot, who motivated me to make a drawing a day for a year. It was Germaine Richier's sculpture, "Bullfighting", which inspired me a lot to invent this character.
I respected the challenge or almost and made more than 300 drawings representing this strange character in different postures and contexts.
I am inspired by photographs taken from contemporary dance performances, cinema, paintings or sculptures by famous or unknown artists.
What interests me above all is the expression of the body, the posture, the representation of the hands and feet. I like it when my character is grotesque or burlesque.
I always add an object represented with more or less realism in order to create a contrast with the graphic style of the character which is much more gestural, sometimes close to writing.
I always start my drawing with the head, represented by very quick, very nervous pencil strokes (lead pencil).
A few of them were printed on white t-shirts at the request of people interested in my style.
