Discover the contemporary work of Valérie De Berardinis
Painter living in France In Paris, I draw my inspiration from the life force of the African land and more particularly during my stays in Benin in the Yoruba culture. My childhood spent in Italy and Côte d’Ivoire gave me perception and sensitivity originals what surrounds me. My preferred mediums are acrylic painting on linen canvas and paper. I use mixed techniques, between gouache, Indian inks, acrylic inks, charcoal, pastels, pen, felt-tip pens, gesso .
My creation is a work of memory and perception of a state of passage and transformation. Memories are emotions, memory is physical, experiences are connections made or lost. Thus my inner strengths, my expectations and my immobilities call out on the canvas my origins, my roots and my heritage.
Little to nothing little, the gesture teaches us that the body can guide our mind and not the other way around. Getting into painting is a way of leaving intellectualization to invest the body. By becoming a creative tool, the body reveals us and makes us appear.
