A passionate visual artist, Valérie Lamarre creates works where the abundance of colors as well as the harmony of shapes and materials resonate with an imagination fueled by her emotions.

After starting out as a model maker, proofreader, illustrator and designer, Valérie Lamarre discovered sculpture and trained for six years in the techniques of clay, wood, stone, bronze and live model (drawing & sculpture) in Marc Touret's Arbre de Pierre studio.

For twenty years, she enriched her career as a professional sculptor and pastellist with a role as a visual arts worker for young people who had dropped out of school in support classes, homes and prisons. She regularly presents her work in galleries, exhibition halls, fairs or on the web and also illustrates art and poetry books.

Since 2018, she has devoted herself exclusively to acrylic painting, exploring its infinite possibilities. She likes to let herself be carried away in complete freedom by the power and magic of creation. Her abstract works and portraits invite the public to travel in her universes, to interpret them freely and to let themselves be invaded by their own emotions.

Her works are collected in France and internationally.

In the beginning, there was a taste for drawing, the flexibility of charcoals, the tenderness of pastels. Then, there was the shock of three dimensions with sculpture, the pleasure of materials, the sensuality of modeling, the precision of stone cutting, the warmth of wood. Finally, the discovery of acrylic, a gateway to the infinite universe of painting, allowed me to play with the magic of shapes, materials and colors.

Art is essential.Like these artists who inspired so many emotions in me, I too wanted to have this immense happiness of creating throughout my life. Doing what you love is a luxury. I am lucky enough to be so.

Art is emotions.I need to master techniques. Then I can forget them and let myself be carried away by the pleasure of creation, without restriction. I paint happily, in my own bubble, and I don't deny myself any inspiration.

Art is magic.I like using various tools, combining techniques, learning again and again. Sometimes I want textures or washes, to mix paint on the white canvas or to draw before applying the colors. I like warm tones but I also like working with complementary ones. I play with stencils, inks and shapes. I multiply the glazes. I mainly do abstract, for its freedom, its limitless possibilities but I also often come back to portraits.

Art is sharing.The emotions felt during the creation must resonate with the emotions of the public, amateur, collector or stroller. I like to observe my visitors, listen to them, let them discover according to their experiences, let them take what they want to take, let them feel without constraint.
