I am an independent artist specializing in watercolor and drawing
Art studies in Paderborn / Germany from 1977 to 1982
In addition to drawing, I developed a special preference for watercolor painting, which has been developing for a long time.
My artistic journey began at the age of 12 with drawing and painting. After graduating from high school, I studied art alongside other subjects. During my studies, I tried to broaden my horizons by traveling and to develop a finer sense of colors. I was particularly fascinated by the paintings and drawings of the artists of the turn of the century and of Art Nouveau.
My travels to the south of France, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Australia and several times to South Africa since 1997 are reflected in the colors and themes of my works. Landscapes are a recurring theme, inspired by my landscape photographs, which initially served as souvenirs and later developed into sources of ideas for my art. I developed my own watercolor technique where I paint on dry paper, which is unusual but produces brilliant colour effects. I have been working as an independent artist for several years and am increasingly turning towards abstraction.
I use pencil for preparatory work and my preference for graphics is becoming clearer. I then transfer these sketches, which I make as daily notes, to watercolour.
