Description
Golf made its first Olympic appearance in 1900 at the Paris Games. It was also on the program for the 1904 games and then disappeared. It is again on the program of Olympic competitions in 2016 and will of course be present during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In this painting, between figurative and cubist, the artist puts the golfer into action during a swing and takes us on a journey through the farway and the green with the ball. Will it go straight into the hole or will it stop a few inches away? No one knows it. This very technical sport which requires endurance, precision and concentration is similar in certain aspects to the work of the painter. To immerse us in this universe, the artist uses sand here reminiscent of bunkers from which it is never easy to escape.
