THE PAINTING OF ARMANDO MUNDO

Armando has drawn and painted since he was a child, but he began to dedicate himself exclusively to his passion after the age of sixty.

His tastes are eclectic and his teachers varied, from the expressionists, Edvard Munch, Emil Nolde, or Oskar Kokoschka, to the impressionists Edgard Degas or Vincent Van Gogh, through 12th century painting – XIII with Giotto and Fra Angelico; and the Spaniards Ignacio Zuloaga and Zabaleta with their portraits, the master of light Sorolla, among others, and of course the greats Goya, Velázquez and Picasso.

Armando seeks his own inspiration outside of trends and schools and does not care what medium he can use to channel that need to transmit emotion and feeling.

His palette spreads an infinite number of nuances, a vibration of colors inspired by the Mediterranean light of his hometown, the colors and contrasts of the Granada of his youth, the skies of Seville and his own experience. of life.

This ambivalent work attracts, some paintings are pure tenderness, an almost nostalgic sweetness that contrasts with a painting of powerful reds thrown onto the canvas almost with rage and violence.

Armando's work is expression, movements, spontaneity, rhythm, impatience … as if the brush went at its own pace without asking the painter for anything…! The colors are bright and textured or in “balayage” (sweeps)
