Balance’art  could be the term given à his creative approach located at halfway between artist and craftswoman. All the difficulty and the ambiguity The aim of her artistic work is to find a compromise, a balance that she claims and desires more than anything to unite in our contemporary era. She refuses the opposition between the visual arts and the applied arts conveyed by tradition and on the contrary strives to interweave them, finding there a constant source of inspiration. The image that it creates and offers to the viewer produces a striking, mystical overall aesthetic, all about itself. both strange and intimate.

Artistic approach

Alexandra Denis presents a series of candid images representative of a specific period. It was the lens of her cell phone, as a passenger, that allowed her to capture, behind the car window, these images over the last two years. consecutive. Always sincere, rarely superficial, never gratuitous, his approach questions the evidence. The spectator is facing; pieces of Finistère landscapes, strange, familiar.

The image can be manipulated and the banal energized. By the act of pivoting, the singular horizontal line of the landscape subject is disrupted. The mind collides with what it is. a horizon that has become vertical. A new reading must take place in order to enter the image. Once the transfer is accepted, without the head necessarily tilting, the magic happens. Plastic elements interact forcefully in the A/Verse and A/Traction series. The tools used are similar to the act of painting, hence sometimes printing on canvas. Materiality is more palpable there. The highlighting of blur at the periphery and exacerbated grain in the center gives body to the body the image. Rain and the reflection in the window are materials that texture and distort reality. poetically. The movement weaves the thread of the colorful landscapes, creating tensions, falls, absences. The composition, often bi-partite, crushes the surface until it becomes visible. abstraction, as much as the details, clearly distant, open the space to imagination and interpretation.

The mental journey continues on the pillow in its sacred image boxes. Presence and absence in the world,  Sublimated memory and dreams, its sensitive imagery speaks to us silently in an intimate singularity.

Rich in references, she is primarily fond of Louise Bourgeois and Annette Messager for their intimate approach, Anselm Kieffer and Lucien Freud for their insatiable quest for narrative material, Caravaggio for his powerful contrasts , Bill Viola for his temporality; and his poetry, Mark Rothko for his specialty. colorful as well as Yayoi Kusama for her organic mental images.
