Discover the contemporary work of Astrid SOULA
A passionate self-taught artist since my teenage years, I devote myself to painting with tireless energy. My creativity flourishes in exploring the purity of bright colors and organic lines.
My work draws its inspiration from the infinite beauty of the natural world: from the deep roots of trees to the lush forests, the richness of wildlife, not to mention the wonders of planets and galaxies.
Each piece I create is a tribute to this universal harmony, where nature and the cosmos meet.
I have always used canvas as a medium for my imagination. Today, I also express myself through wooden sculptures made from bark from clear-cut forests, pieces often destined to degrade or be reduced to ashes. These vestiges of the life of trees carry a story within them, and I pay tribute to them by transforming them.
Each piece is adorned with vibrant colors, restoring the energy that once inhabited them. The veins of the wood emerge, enhanced with shades of red, blue, silver and gilded, revealing the hidden beauty of these materials. Through this process, a little of the "spirit" of the tree resurfaces, giving my work a sacred dimension, often forgotten in our Western culture.
