Discover the contemporary work of Astrid SOULA
Self-taught artist since adolescence, I have never stopped creating. to paint. I am particularly fond of the purity of nature. bright colors and natural lines.
I am inspired by the forms of the natural world, whether plant, animal or cosmic: roots, forests, fauna but also planets and galaxies.
I have always used the canvas as a support for my imagination.
Today, it is now also with wood bark that I express myself, but not just any bark: pieces from clear forest cuts dedicated to the degradation of time or intended for end up in a fire, vestiges of what remains of the trees' life. Thus, the barks are found adorned with colors which recall and restore the energy which inhabited them; the veins appear, enhanced with areas of red, blue, silver and gold... It’s also a bit of the “spirit” of the tree which resurfaces and which confers my work something sacred long forgotten in our Western culture.
