“Charles Carson’s painting is divided into two approaches that are both distinct and complementary.” “mosaic”. As its name indicates, the latter suggests the fragmentation of form and surface which characterizes mosaics. “Carsonism*”. This approach is not easy to describe, but in general we can speak of an infinite succession of slightly oblique touches which on the surface energize as much as possible the perception of the material and the subject, all coming to life on the canvas in quite sensational subtle transparencies, giving an impression of depth to the color. It seems like an incessant flow of particles -- still quite large -- which sweep through matter with a fascinating, even disconcerting, regularity.
