Description
This square format canvas represents a portrait of a woman with golden hues. The gold paint interweaves, in a play of superposition with glitter, gold leaf, and structural paste. The shape that encircles the face suggests a passage from one state to another. The flowers recall travel and more particularly the island of Tahiti where the artist made a trip at the age of twenty. This is a question of an initiatory journey, a recurring theme in his work. Like the alchemist who changes lead into gold, this young woman is in full metamorphosis and accesses transcendence materialized by the color Gold.
