Discover the contemporary work of Franz Laimé

With 25 years of theatrical exploration in the service of lighting and scenography, I chose to give a new direction to my career by turning to cabinetmaking and straw marquetry.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to train with two experienced cabinetmakers, perfecting my know-how. With my cabinetmaking diploma in hand, from this passion and expertise was born Bois Pluriel.
Why "plural"? This name evokes my desire not to limit myself to a single medium, but to explore the multiple facets of craftsmanship. It also reflects my desire to collaborate with other artists, to create synergies, and to enrich my work through creative exchanges. More than just a technique, I want to share this art with as many people as possible, to make it discoverable and accessible.
Straw marquetry is much more than a simple craft; it's a permanent dialogue with light. As in my theatrical experiments, I play with reflections, shadows, and nuances to bring my creations to life. This encounter between straw and light was therefore an obvious choice.
Whether it's furniture designed and manufactured in my workshop, makeovers, carefully restored pieces, decorative objects, lighting, or paintings, straw marquetry brings a unique dimension to each of my creations. It reveals the beauty The natural beauty of the materials creates subtle plays of light and gives each piece a timeless elegance.
Wood, rye straw, light: these three elements are the foundations of my art. I work them with passion and rigor to create unique pieces, imbued with poetry and refinement.
