Ismael García Burillo, a multidisciplinary artist originally from Spain, raised and educated in Venezuela, with a mix of Pasiega, Asturian and Aragonese heritage. My journey in the art world began He started early, influenced by his family background in traditional crafts such as carpentry and ceramics. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to find numerous mentors and experiences that have shaped my artistic path, leading me to explore various mediums, including painting, ceramics, and sculpture.
Driven by a deep curiosity about the interplay between art and spirituality, my work often reflects themes of introspection, transcendence, and the interconnectedness of all things and their ether. Inspired by surrealism, oneirism and the Bauhaus movement, I seek to create pieces that resonate on both aesthetic and metaphysical levels. My work includes aspects related to chance, chance and its reason for existing among us as part of a day to day misunderstood because it comes from realities that we do not know. Reality is perceived by me as a series of uncontrollable events immersed in that quantum soup that surrounds us and which we neither can understand nor master at all.
I have worked on various artistic disciplines, which have led me to play between various materials and media creating sculpture, combined ceramics and mixing abstraction with figuration. In addition to my artistic activities, I am also a passionate educator, sharing my knowledge and skills with others through workshops and classes in ceramics, painting and creative processes. I currently live in Cebreros, a quiet town located in the province of Ávila, Spain, where I continue to explore new artistic horizons while fostering a sense of community and connection through my work.
In my artistic approach, I seek to explore the border between the tangible and the intangible, fusing aesthetics with a sensitivity beyond common cognitive abilities, to create works that invite reflection and to personal discovery. In this sense, I try to go beyond the vulgar meaning of this world and what it represents and happens in the lives of the beings that inhabit this planet and capture in my work the possible scenes, or events of something, in an indeterminate space time, susceptible to infinite possibilities, so that anything can seem like another inverse, infinitely in an infinity of space-time. All this from the quantum perspective and based on our total inability to understand beyond our senses. Trusting rather our “extra/senses”.
