Sculptural art began in the Upper Paleolithic with a small figure known as the Löwenmensch. It is considered to be over 40,000 years old. Sculpture can be made with most 3D modular materials. Description
The first step is to find the stone. In the field, forest, on the beach. It has to be something I can carry, 15-20 kg max. Then the work on the trestle begins. I work by hand with a stock hammer and stock chisel. The setin is exposed, patina, rotten spots and inclusions take shape. The stone often changes colour when it is being carved. The brown of the patina gives way to red. The actual colour, for example. All of its beauty is revealed. The process is simultaneous in the past: often millions of years of shaping and crystallisation, the present: the knocking and knocking, and the future: the stone is placed on felt slightly higher up in the room.
