Discover the contemporary work of Nicolas Brunet
Graduated from the Nantes School of Fine Arts in 2002.
My artistic practice is rooted in the exploration of collage using wrapping paper and found images, in an intuitive approach to composition. My work is part of an approach that is both plastic and introspective, seeking to reconcile the ordinary and the poetic, while revealing the tension between lightness and disorder, a reflection of the world around me.
My compositions are inspired by organic forms evoking natural landscapes as well as urban geometries. Sometimes, human silhouettes or gestures are inserted into the whole. I deliberately limit the figurative elements to leave room for everyone's interpretation.
The use of spray glue allows me flexibility in assembly, encouraging adjustments, tears and reuses.
Each collage becomes an invitation to slow down, to scrutinize the details, and to discover a balance between abstraction and figuration, between dream and reality.
