This sculpture, measuring 70 cm by 44 cm by 30 deep, is an ode to Gran Mamare, the goddess of the oceans, as imagined by Hayao Miyazaki in Ponyo on the Cliff. It finds its place in an exhibition dedicated to the mother nurturer, celebrating life and the protection of the seas. Carefully made from a piece of dead coral, abandoned in a parking lot near the sea, this work tells the story of a forgotten treasure, brought back to life through art. It aims to raise awareness of the fragile state of our coral reefs, true underwater gardens under threat.
