Discover the contemporary work of Tanguy LUTTMANN
Born in 1998, I grew up in the Landes countryside. After studying science, I worked for two years as a research and development engineer. At the same time, I developed my acrylic technique as an autodidact before devoting myself to it fully from 2022. I live and work between Lyon and the mountains where I nourish my passion for mountaineering.
My artistic practice is mainly based on acrylic painting, oil pastel and the assembly of canvases, whether to simply extend the support or to form diptychs/triptychs whose different parts look at each other and complement each other.
The relationship to bodies is at the center of my compositions where we find a very strong attraction for the limbs that are deformed, as if torn apart, and which transcend the simple anatomical representation. This exploration of bodies then serves both as a reflection of my introspection and as a portal to my favorite themes. We thus find intense scenes that mix my relationship to the notion of gender, suffering and youth. Religion also plays an important role in my approach and the classic compositions of religious art can be found in several of my recent paintings.
