Peintre belge, Thierry Merget a installé son atelier au cœur de la Famenne et du plus riche domaine forestier de Belgique. A proximité du château royal, c’est dans plusieurs milliers d’hectares de forêt giboyeuse que l’artiste aime se promener et effectuer quelques croquis aquarellés. De retour à l’atelier, c’est à l’acrylique qu’il peint ses toiles toujours riches en couleurs et en contrastes. « Les chemins de la liberté » c’est l’autre thème auquel Thierry Merget est attaché. Dans chacune de ses toiles, il emmène le spectateur vers des cités où il faut chercher et choisir le chemin de la liberté. On y trouve le climat paradoxal de l’angoisse et du rêve qui s’exprime dans des perspectives , des graffitis et des symboles. Malgré ce premier coup d’œil qui donne un sentiment de grande liberté, les techniques et les compositions sont rigoureuses et rien n’est laissé au hasard.
